Location, Part 2

Greetings, friends!
I forgot to mention in the last post, that every month I will discuss one topic over 4 weeks. How many posts I will have will vary on the topic. Somethings take longer to explain. Anyway, this will make  this post Lesson #2 on Location. Let us begin.
We already discussed how your camp should be organized, now we must discuss where to organize it at. I will give you some good places you should go today. Next week I will tell you where not to go and why they harm you.
The first thing to consider is whether it is wise to move to another location. If you live out in the middle of nowhere or in a small town, DON'T MOVE!! That is the safest place for you to be. There are very few people and if they start acting weird, you will know it right away. Just wait it out at home until they have reached the sluggish stage and you can easily slaughter them.
If you live in a large town or city, shut up your house to the outside. Don't go outside for at least a week. If you run out of supplies, go and get it very very fast from the neighbors house. Don't expect your neighbor to be normal. After a week, dare to venture outside and look around. If there are just a ton a "zombies" in the sluggish stage, find a weapon and go out for supplies. If you think that you can survive there, go ahead and try. But, if you think you can't survive, move out of the city. Take ONLY survival necessities.
When you move out of the city, I would suggest hijacking a car. It will easily plow through the "zombies" in your way. And, gas is now free of charge! Grab a random credit card and swipe it at the machine and collect as much gas as you want! If you can't do this, gather as much food and water as you can and travel across the rooftops until you reach the edge of the city. Then, once you're out, find a secluded spot that is alone, but not to far away from a supply area. First thing you do with your new home, fortify it. If you can't find a good spot, keep moving and follow the guidelines for a temporary camp. Once you find a good permanent home though, fortify right away. After it is safe, stockpile supplies. Find any survivors and bring them to live with you. Continue to survive.
This is only the beginning of your training. There are countless other things to learn. Come back next week learn more about how to survive the REALISTIC "Zombie" Apocalypse.

The "Zombie" Origin

Hello, and welcome to your guide to survival of the "zombie" apocalypse. Even though zombies are not possible, right?
That's why the word "zombie" will always be in quotation marks on this blog. "Zombies", meaning living dead people, simply cannot exist. I could launch you into an extensive scientific explanation for why the living dead can't exist, but lets make it simple. You cannot LIVE when you are DEAD!
So, what is the point of this blog? If there are no "zombies", what must we be prepared for? I have done some research and this is my deduction. A "zombie" like sate can be achieved by chemical bonding and mutation of mad cow disease and rabies can be achieved if injected into humans. This is partially scientific evidence and partially common sense. Mad cow disease deteriorates the brain when contracted by humans. Rabies is transmitted by bites or infected saliva. If you cross mutate these two diseases in a lab, you can achieve a virus that makes people stumble around and groan while trying to bite humans. Here is a more detailed look.
The "Mad Rabies" as we will call it, will inter your body by a bite. The virus will work it's way to the brain, though I'm not sure how long it will take. The virus will then take control of your nervous system and mind and begin the deterioration of the brain. It will make you long to spread the virus by making you volatile and want to bite someone. You will at first still be able to move relatively normal, but as your brain deteriorates, you will move more and more like a zombie, eventually crawling or just sitting there. Once you die from this lifestyle, the virus will feed on your brain until there is nothing left, and then die.
Now, how would this even begin to exist? Let us not forget the countless crazy people out there that hate the USA or other countries. Plus, all the crazy people in asylums or going into asylums that have access to labs. Accidents happen people! In addition to this, there are other fungus and parasites that take over smaller creatures minds, like ants and caterpillars. If some crazy guy developed a parasite intelligent enough to take over a human body, same result.
So, as this begins to spread, more and more "zombies" appear. There is a hope for a cure though, since it is a mutation of two real diseases. So, the government will want to "contain it" and try to fix the problem. But, there are 7.6 billion people in the world. It will spread. This is where we come in. We have no idea it exists. Until there a a couple crazies that stumble around. We don't go out much, so we don't think much of it.  Then more appear. And more, and more, and more. We then discover, "ZOMBIE" creatures are in my town!!!
So, I am preparing you for what to do and when to do it when these theories become a reality.

Lesson #1: Location
Where you go when "zombies" arrive is very very important. It can decide whether you live or die. I am setting up requirements for a permanent or a temporary camp. I recommend always assuming that your camp will be temporary, but if you can find a permanent site, good for you!

Temporary Camp
By far the most important, your temporary camp must be very easy to clean up and get on the move with. The basic requirements are: Easy to pick up and pack; Not too big; Very simple; Sheltered, Not heavy.
You want the camp to be ready to be packed up and put on your back at a second's notice. If it's too big, it will take longer. If you are sheltered, it will make it easier to deal with the weather and easier to defend. And, if it's heavy, it will not be easy to carry.
Some extras for this would be if you had a vehicle to haul your stuff in. I am highly against this, unless you can get a steady supply of gas.

Permanent Camp
A permanent camp must be a house with ONLY one or two entrances/exits. That is a MUST!!! It will make it easier to defend and make survival easier. I do not suggest a permanent camp unless you have at least 3 people besides you that survived with you at all times. That way you can set up watches so you can guard each other and get some sleep. Your permanent shelter should be somewhere with a pow population. It should also be large, so you can store stuff. Depending on the size of your group, your building size will vary. I suggest only the necessary amount of space to make an intrusion less likely.

This is only the beginning of your training. There are countless other things to learn. Come back next week to learn more about how to survive the REALISTIC "Zombie" Apocalypse.
